The term ESG covers a wide range of topics, from the Environment and Governance to Social aspects. The ESG profile aims to address the financial materiality of non-financial issues within an organisation.

E – Environmental Criteria

Environmental criteria encompass issues related to energy management and waste management within the organisation.

Energy Management
Energy management covers the monitoring, control, and conservation of energy used in buildings, facilities, and operations.
Carbon Neutrality

Implementation of an action plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including an annual carbon footprint assessment since 2021.

2024 Carbon Footprint:
  • 7.65 tons of CO2 emitted
  • Greenhouse Gas Offsetting through ECOTIERRA and its PIVOT program in the Eastern Townships.
Waste Management
Waste management is the process of collecting, transporting, treating, recycling, and disposing of waste.
Certification
  • First “Ici on recycle+” recognition certification obtained in 2018.
  • Elite recognition certification from the ICI on recycle+ recognition program held since 2025.
Recovery
  • Installation of a 4-stream sorting station in the office dining area.
  • The latest characterization study shows that we have achieved a 97% recovery rate.
  • Compostable materials are collected separately.
  • Household hazardous waste is collected and safely disposed of at an Eco-centre.
  • Ink cartridges are collected and sent to La Cartoucherie for remanufacturing.

  • Board meetings are conducted using digital tools that reduce paper use.

Social criteria encompass issues related to human resources management within the organization.

Workforce Attraction and Retention
Workforce attraction and retention are strategies that allow the organization to be attractive when recruiting new staff and innovative in its management approach to retain employees long-term.
HR Policy
  • Adoption of a flexible human resources policy that offers attractive and competitive benefits, supporting attraction and retention.
Remote Work Policy
  • Implementation of a remote work policy that allows for a hybrid work model to facilitatea good work/personal life balance.
Agile Communication Structure
  • Communication approach that fosters exchanges through monthly team meetings and individual meetings where work and individual development plans are discussed.
  • Statutory ESG agenda items at monthly team meetings.
Environment and Community
  • Organisation of business communities of practice to foster the undertaking and acceleration of sustainable development practices.
Health, Safety and Well-Being
Health, safety, and well-being are essential aspects of ensuring a healthy and safe work environment for our team members.
Risk Analysis
  • Completion of a workplace risk analysis (biological, physical, ergonomic, psychosocial, and safety risks).
OHS Action Plan
  • Adoption and implementation of an occupational health and safety action plan identifying preventive measures to be implemented.
Interim OHS Framework
  • Adoption of an interim framework for prevention and participation mechanisms in the workplace for OHS.
  • Identification of a liaison officer.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Diversity, equity, and inclusion involve creating a work environment where all employees feel respected, valued, and included.
Pay Equity
  • Completion of a pay equity process ensuring fair compensation based on every individual’s role and responsibilities.
Workforce Diversity
  • Our team of employees and board members is diversified in terms of age and gender, and we are actively working on further diversification based on other factors.
Geographic Diversity
  • Board members adequately represent all areas of our MRC.
Skills Diversity
  • Board members adequately represent various economic sectors, expertise and managerial skills.

G – Governance Criteria

Governance criteria encompass issues related to the organisation’s management strategy.

Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity protects stakeholder data, ensures operational resilience, and maintains trust and credibility in the digital age.
CIMP Policy
  • Adoption and implementation of a personal and confidential information management policy complying with the requirements of Bill 25.
Cybersecurity Diagnostic
  • Annual cybersecurity diagnostic to assess the organization’s performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Employee Training
  • Employees have completed training on the secure use of digital tools. Our digital tools usage policy has been implemented and includes a statutory cybersecurity agenda item at monthly team meetings.

Business Ethics
Business ethics refers to the moral principles and values that guide the behaviour and decision-making of an organisation.
Mission, Vision, Values
  • Our mission, vision, and values are aligned toward ethical management and updated as needed.
Code of Ethics and Confidentiality
  • All employees and board members sign a code of ethics and a confidentiality agreement.
Policies
  • Adoption by the board of directors of various policies that underlie its governance role and the organisation’s operations.
Strategic Planning
Strategic planning involves setting goals, defining objectives, and determining the best action plan to achieve them.

  • Completion of a three-year strategic planning process with an annual update carried out in collaboration with the team and adopted by the board of directors.
Action Plans
  • Annual action plan identifying actions to be carried out for each of the three lines of business: Local Economic Development, Support, and Financing, with measurable objectives.

  • Completion of an organisational risk assessment and action plan to mitigate risks based on the level of importance/probability.
Responsible Procurement
Responsible procurement involves acquiring goods and services while considering their environmental, social, and economic impact.

  • Adoption and implementation of a responsible procurement policy that promotes, among other things, the use of local products or services when possible.
